I'm such a nerd for knowing this and letting it bug me but super mutants don't have gender (genitals). It would still work if it was using its fingers though.

yeah that was the fatal flaw. Scientists thought, given time, the super mutants would die out. They have a long life span, but can't reproduce.

But then the idiots somehow got control of the FEV vats and started dipping every damn thing in the wasteland to repopulate.

I'm actually all for racial diversity in the post-apoc world, but most of these guys are racist and like to eat others, so...
