And to compound the folly, most of them are really awfully made. Some of them cross the line from gross to disconcerting to absolutely nightmarish. Anyone remember those really dark ones that used to be everywhere, where they all had emotionless faces and the lighting was bad enough to qualify as a chiaroscuro painting?
