A few people have suggested aliases for some anime names, and character names. Usually, they are suggesting that the English name, be aliased into the Japanese name. It is not always the case that the Japanese name is more commonly used.

Now I know hardcore anime fans may just prefer the Japanese names for a number of reason, that being their original, non localized names and all, but it's hard to decided which side of this to pick on. A majority of the time, an English speaking viewer may learn the localized name of an anime character first, and may never even know their Japanese one.

Does anyone else have any input on this? Currently, my opinion seems to be leaning toward accepting the English names as the main entry, and aliasing the Japanese ones to them. This site is in English after all.

I'd go with japanese name because what if the character doesn't have a dubbed english version

If the character doesn't even have an English name obviously you use what ever available. I'm talking about things with translated names already.

Why not both, that's what i think, if a common ground cant be found just have both be available, for the time being at least.

No matter what I do, both will always exist.

The difference is one will point to the other as a recommendation to keep the total of tags lower. You don't want half the images you are looking for to be hidden because you don't know the japanese / english name of something.

I\'m for Japanese. I think original name will be more useful, even if you want to search the girl/anime in another site.

if that's the case than I vote for english name->japanese name. BTW does anyone here practise Satanism.
