I'd put it down to the parents who get offended at seeing "homosexual propaganda" in children's cartoons, so edits had to be made for the younger audience to watch the ending

Sucks balls, really, you'd think we'd be past that kind of stuff by now and the status quo would have changed for the better

It DID NOT happen nor was it EVER INTENDED for or in the show!!
This was re-animated by some sex-crazed shut-in with some artistic talent!
It was NEVER indicated before, during or after, that Korra nor Asami were ever attracted to each other!!
Them taking hands at the end of the final episode was because Korra IS the Avatar and Asami COULD NOT ENTER without help.
That is all.
But then you get BS like this and sex-starved young (idiotic) adults who come to sites like these and they recall the last episode and they EAGERLY jump to salacious conclusions.
No wonder this country is ranked 17th in education worldwide."

Both wrong and right at the same time. This was not actually a scene from the show that was cut but a really well-made fan animation that was edited into the final scene which is true, however the creators of the show have THEMSELVES stated that Korra and Asami are actually in a romantic relationship.
