I think the problem is that they, like all the images, are displayed such that they can't be avoided even when you don't click on them.

Hmm i say too bad get over it. There's a TON of images here i dislike, however i can easily look pass them.
Xbooru allows sexually explicit images that aren't against the rules &homosexual images aren't against the rules, suck it up & move on.
If you feel Xbooru is unbalanced with too many homosexual images, then what's stopping you from balancing it back with images you feel are more to your liking.
It's not breaking the rules & your free to create your own website with images you want.
