Just don't get it

Can someone explain to me why so many males like mlp so much? I know this has been discussed to death but I still don't get the appeal of it.

It's decent at best but then I go on youtube and I see a bunch of teen and young adults walking into toysrus and walmart wearing their mlp shirt like they're all that and buying pony toys. Is there some kind of R-18 adult humor I'm not getting

I'm not hating on the show, it's just that I don't get why a cartoon designed for young girls gets so much hype from boys

I think it's a rebellion against stuff that in childhood was only for boys and stuff that was only for girls, in adulthood you can do as you please, so people are.

You don't have to be a brony to like MLP. The porn is worth it, but still. I liked the classic MLP that came out back in the 80's.
